The weather was temperamental. One minute the sun was shining and the next, it was drizzling. Heavy winds and rain brought Saharan dust and sand to our doorstep and a train ride away, the chill was unseasonable and unexpected. From the Mediterranean views of Málaga to the crowded streets of Madrid, the diversity of scenery and people in Spain was beautiful! The peoples who have touched this land and contributed to this rich culture are evident in the architecture, art and cuisine. There is inspiration everywhere! Besides the plentiful and ubiquitous olives, fresh-baked, crusty bread with generous pours of fruity Spanish olive oil, tortilla de patatas, and fresh seafood that I could not stop eating, I will not forget the sweet smell of the orange blossoms from the tree in the courtyard that perfumed the air with every breeze. My friends told me that they share their oranges with neighbors and in return, they receive avocados and other fresh fruit straight from their trees. How lovely! Generosity and Love are contagious! I look forward to the day when they spread globally like a pandemic--across borders with total disregard for constructed borders, barriers and biases.
